CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements WINNER- talk about INSPO!
August 19, 2010
I love when you are able to actually put your inspiration into ACTION! This is by far one of the most rewarding feelings one can experience!!!! I am always excited to thumb through the yearly winners of famous Swarovski - CRYSTALLIZED! This year there was one winner in particular that, to me, TRUELY demonstrated an inspiration coming to LIFE!
"I love to push design to the limit" says 23-year-old Aimee who is a native Australian herself! She put to use her selections of 10 different colored Swarovski crystals in various shapes and sizes to create and embellish her one-of-a-kind masterpiece evening bag! Congratulations to Parsons student Aimee Kestenberg for being chosen as a finalist for the Independent Handbag Designer Awards. Aimee was one of the five finalists in the Best Use of CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements category.
Check out what inspired her below:

The Essentials: A Girls Guide to the Jewelry Box Must-Haves!
August 18, 2010
I believe it should be common knowledge amongst the female race that there are a few key jewelry pieces that every girl must own in her lifetime. These must-haves I consider timeless are necessary components of every girl’s collection.
Just as there are essential items that serve as a foundation to build your outfits on when considering your entire wardrobe and with that said I believe the same goes for jewelry. I consider theses my Jewelry Staples and these are the pieces that go with everything I own and have seen trend after trend but still emerge as the chic forerunners. I highly recommend that if you don’t have these classics in your jewelry box already, that it is time you $art $aving now because they’re the chicest jewelry investments a gal can make.
1.) Diamond Solitaire Studs
Class, grace, style and simplicity need I say more…
2.) Bangles
I prefer a set of gold but if you’re a silver kinda girl these will do as well, but bangles in general give you a very polished look for very little effort.

3.)HooPS
Classic Hoops in either Silver (or gold) are without a doubt a must-have! I am drawn toward my very own handmade hoops which are 14K GF and hammered which gives them a natural, earthy quality that I absolutely love!
4.) BIG BAND RINGS
Band Rings are simple, versatile and easy to find so mix it up with gold copper silver whatever you please –lets not forget they look great stacked so have a little fun & start stocking up.
5.) Pearls
Some of us are lucky enough to be part of a tradition and have them handed down, a necklace that belonged to our mother or grandmother. I feel like pearls assist in almost defining a girls sense of "accessory maturity" it represents an age or era of her life... its a special moment when you get your first pair... it truly is!
Bauble Business: Another Celebrity Jewelry Launch
August 17, 2010
Ok, so can we please talk about why it is that more and more often these days I find myself reading fashion and jewelry headlines about another “launch” of a celebrity’s jewelry line… Today’s latest,… 26-year-old socialite Nicki Hiltion heeds her calling & launches her jewelry line! It’s almost as if celebrities & their jewelry lines have gone as far as celebrities and stamping their names on ridiculous perfumes… I must admit I am a guilty buyer of a few of them nonetheless - It’s a bit unnerving to me!... but maybe its just me. I am totally aware that with $$$$ you can just about make anything happen, but coming from someone who is working so hard – and on her own to “launch” MY jewelry line, while maintain a totally separate full time job having nothing to do with my life of jewels !!! But I’m not going to scream…. Breathe… and lets take a moment to look over just of few of the Celebrity Jewelry Designers:
HEIDI KLUM
NICKY HILTON
Maybe some day huh...

Artsy... Really Though?!
August 10, 2010
Today I have been doing a bit of blog shopping and I stumbled across an Aussie "artist" living in Japan ( who thinks its pretty cool that he is living there) and he is an artist indeed... His art consists of these dolls which I believe he calls "Carnival Girl Stands" and I guess its art or maybe an obsession or a fad... something Nonetheless I guess you could consider him artsy...

About Me
You've been invited to a fancy ball but the only thing you have to wear is an orange wooly jumper. What shoes do you wear?
I would call him an artist! Not to mention that his art (3 pieces) will be on display a group show at Artbox Gallery in Ginza, Tokyo, which started this past Monday the 9th of August.
WiKiHow says to be artsy you simply must do the following: HA! I find this rather ridiculous and so might The Grouch! Read on and you be the judge!!!
WOW...
There's so much you can do to look artsy, so find something you like that you can stick with, ie: aren't these gigantic strutting peacocks in peacoats great?
Well, what is artsy makeup?
Deck out your purse with pins and sayings, like "The End Is Near!" or "I Love Nerds." Get chunky earrings, necklaces, and bracelets and wear them whenever possible.
Never be let down and smile when hope is lost
11.) BE NEAT OR MESSY
Have fun at art shows, music festivals, charity auctions, and museums and you might always pick up some original work -- artsy stuff...
Is there a little cafe down the street? Think about going there to make it your home away from home. Contribute a piece of artsy art to brighten the atmosphere, make friends there. Go there to read, browse the web, and gossip. Stay away from big chain cafes like Starbucks.
14.) SCRAPBOOK
Being artsy is more than a look, it is a way of life. Everyone is unique, but we often "squash" this uniqueness to fit in. Think about all of what comprises your being, and embrace it, without appearing too odd or annoying.
