Necklace Knowledge Affair

February 17, 2011

Finding a stunning necklace isn’t a problem I often face, but I will admit that it can be difficult to know how particular necklaces will look on me as well as what I will actually be able to wear them with… When considering a necklace or a pendant, it is of the utmost importance that you NEVER overlook the length! While necklace lengths these days seem to have more to do with personal preference than fashion requirements lets not forget that a necklace that lays properly can accentuate the flow as well as the visual interest of any ensemble! Longer lengths draw attention to the bust while shorter lengths feature the beautiful lines of your neck. I have decided that it is absolutely necessary to arm all of my readers with a little extra necklace knowledge in order to encourage adding different lengths to your current wardrobe! And so I present to all of you Necklace Knowledge: A No Fail Necklace Length Guide

Collar 12-13” Snug and sophisticated it can be graceful and elegant. The Collar necklace fits nicely around your neck to pair with an evening dress or chic V-neck attire.

Choker 14-16” Classy and extremely versatile, the Choker falls about the length of your collarbone.

Princess 17-19” Perfectly suitable to adorn with a pendant the Princess length may just be among the most favored of the styles. Pair it with anything from a crew neck to a deep v and those in between! This length seems to always work.

Matinee 20-24” Stylish and elegant the matinee necklace compliments both casual & business dress. Its just a tad longer than the choker yet just a bit shorter than an opera length making for a great look for the average height gal.

Opera 28-34” The opera necklace length is gorgeous and refined. It can be worn in one strand for a polished look or doubled as a two-strand choker length piece. The style is very “flapper”-like. This necklace is very flattering for shorter women because it elongates the body.

Rope or Lariat 40+” & 45+” Flirtatious and dripping with elegance the rope was a favorite of Coco Chanel and it truly exudes indescribable elegance. I will also say this is an absolute favorite of mine! I’m all about a necklace that looks great with any get up and without these additions to my wardrobe it simply wouldn’t be nearly complete…
