Chasing Ice: Red Carpet 2013
February 25, 2013
2013’s award season undoubtedly brings out the red carpets
best of the best; I couldn’t think of a better time to take pule of the fashion
world and check up on the red carpet jewelry trends of 2013. Jewelry trends are
said to be derived from the 3 R’s Runway, Real Life and the Red Carpet each of
these often influencing jewelry sales for months or even years thereafter. So
after last nights 85thAcademy Awards and all eyes on Hollywood the red carpet
was rolled out for stars as they sparkled and shined dripping in fabulous gems
and gorgeous jewels. From bold earrings to brilliantly styled back necklaces,
here are some of the seasons Red Carpet Jewelry trends you can expect to see
sticking around (as well as my top favs of the evening)!
Bold earrings make such a statement when done just right. These three leading ladies definitely nailed the Linear Drop Earring look last night! Absolutely love!

The Backlace:
We are no stranger to this trend... see below the pic from the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's scene... look familiar? Not only was this one of the most elegantly edgy looks of the evening but by far my favorite... the back necklace aka the backlace! Jennifer Lawerence went with a long, Chopard necklace while Anne Hathaway paired a Tiffany & Co. back necklace with a fabulous Prada gown.
Not-So-Simplistic-Approach:
Among the evenings not-so-simplistic approach to jewelry (while other shining stars seemed to keep things on the less is more side) were the iconic Barbra Streisand as she preformed The Way We Were in what was said to be nearly $700,000.
And below are just a few additional fabulous looks of the evening:
Jennifer Garner in platinum by Neil Lane- 200 karat diamond necklace, total platinum look worth $2.5 million.Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Irene Neuwirth earrings. Jenna is stunning and her choice of opal jewelry added the perfect pop of simply color to her overall look! Found at Barneys New York, designer, Irene Neuwirth's collection offers the ideal mixture of elegant jewel tone gems that every woman should work on adding to her jewelry collection...
second favorite look of the evening!
Jewelry Retailer... Bed Bath & Beyond?
February 19, 2013
"For you last minute Valentine’s Day shoppers out there
who still can’t decide whether to buy your honey a single-serve coffeemaker or
a heart pendant, you can buy her both — at Bed Bath & Beyond"
Ok so I know Valentine’s Day has passed, but I recently spotted the above verbiage via Forbes magazine last week and am not so sure how I feel about it… When I think of Bed Bath & Beyond the last thing that comes to mind is one stop shopping, especially for something such as jewelry. I am undoubtedly aware of the increasing trend with major retailers peddling above and beyond their otherwise regular niche (objective obvious) but there are just some things that should remain separate… one being my shopping for home appliances and my shopping for jewelry & accessories {diamonds included!}. However, the fact that they offer a wide variety of jewelry boxes and jewelry organizers does in a way make this work... a little... but I mean just because they sell hangers doesnt mean they should also sell clothing to hang on them, right?! This is just my gracious opinion… and I am by no means knocking the choice of brands Bed Bath & Beyond has chosen to add to their repertoire, but I cant help but question their motives… I also think their marketing strategy is rather effective. But still... Would you choose to gift someone or gift yourself for that matter a piece of jewelry from one of the biggest home furnishings retailers? Just something to think about… And if you answered yes to this... than you may be interested in checking out their Jewelry Trunk Show... I think I will keep my Bed Bath & Beyond jewlery related purschases to storage and organizing isle, thank you!
Below are some of the additional jewelry
Phalanx Rings: Midi Rings
February 18, 2013
Who would have imagined that rings would be working their way up the finger? Worn above the knuckle, often sitting just above the joint, the barely-there dainty phalanx ring (also known as the midi ring) can be blatantly characterized as a ring that is too small to fit your whole finger so you just wear it above your knuckle and call it a happy accident!
Spotted on edgy stars such as Rihanna, these delicate baubles look best when they are subtle and thin. You can stack then a top fingers with other rings, or stack multiples on a single finger all without feeling heavy handed.
I, for one, am in love with this jewelry trend and definitely think you should try it out for size! I'm always excited to come across a trend that offers a fresh new look to your jewelry, especially a modernized way to wear rings. Something about wearing rings this way feels romantic, edgy and a bit mysterious all at the same time, like you have stories to tell and secrets to keep... check out some of my favorite must have midi rings below!

Divine Like an Emerald: Pantone Color of 2013
February 11, 2013
Vivid, Sophisticated, Universally Appealing... these are just a
few of the ways to describe Pantones color of 2013, EMERALD. Its been said that
a diamond may be forever but an emerald is divine… after all, historically the
emerald was a sacred stone of the Goddess Venus and what’s more divine than a
celestial Goddess? Cleopatra had an deep affinity for them, Aristotle
wrote about them, Elizabeth Taylor’s collection was dripping with them and who
could forget about how Angela Jolie owned them on the red carpet.
While the emerald color itself may be striking and lush the emerald gemstone symbolizes many attributes; some of these attributes include eternal youth, fertility and rebirth. Its said to promise luck, enhance well-being {think about the Emerald City…} and is a sign of beauty and constant love. The Emerald is also said to be a gemstone of Spring and as we slowly move into the warmer months consider making an emerald part of your collection and let it protect and guide you throughout the year.
this is my absolute favorite!

Jewelry Gossip: Back at it...
February 8, 2013
Ive been on a jewelry hiatus to say the least. It been nearly one year, almost to the date... one year and 2 days to be exact, but Ive decided {with some much needed and sincerely appreciated encouragement from a special someone} to dive back into my favorite kind of gossip... Jewelry Gossip. My love for jewelry, sparkles and all things girly started from early age. A favorite pastime of mine included running around the house wearing whatever peice of my mothers jewelry I could get my hands on. When I first started this blog it was my intention to share my love for jewelry, share my knowledge for all things handmade, and to simply feature a little bling that truly takes my breath away. And Im back! It may take some work at first, but most things in life worth investing time in take a little elbow grease,ya know!? J-Lynn Jewelry {the blog} is place for me to share my likes, my finds, and my story all in an effort to entertain and inspire readers. I am undoubtedetly accessory obsessed so with that said I leave you with some pin inspired images below to get you excited about what is to come... So enjoy and let the sharing begin!
{DIY what are you working on?}
{color of the year... any guesses}
{his & hers... do or dont}
{Lifes a Beach... pool side jewelry}
